Mini Me Stats

The best way, I have found, to waste money, time, and products on items that I do not need in my daily routine is to understand who I am and what I need. So, here I will list out the "boxes" I have found I fit in, so I know to not buy outside of these categories. However, you may have different specifications or more "boxes" that you need to fill. That is okay! Find what works for you.  Hair:  - Fine Hair: I have a greasy scalp, no heat damage but I have overall hair damage. So, I should not buy shampoos or conditioners that do not match my hair needs.  - 2A Waves: This means I have a bit of a wave to it, but not from the top of my head (it starts about midway down my long hair). I might want to invest in some wave-defining creams but nothing has worked so far.  - High Density Hair: I do not need to worry about adding any hair to my head. In fact, I shed enough that some might argue I have some damage to my hair, but the shedding has not significantly changed m...

Basic Life Plan

This is the basic plan I have for my life at the moment. I am sure I will add and revise as my life goes on an other matters seem to become more important to me.  My relationship with God comes first. Wake up every morning with time for God. Constantly be in prayer with Him. Ask Him for guidance when I do not know what to do. Own a small house. enough space in the bedroom for a bed (twin to king potentially), one bedside table with two drawers for my foldable clothes, and about a foot or less of hanging space for my clothes that need to be hung up. kitchen space for only about 20 dishes total, and likely not a full set of dishware. Have maybe 4 cups or plates and silverware just in case I have guests, though. Workout more often. some self-workouts through videos online weekly or bi-weekly (meaning twice a week, not once every two weeks) sports with a community of people I care about. Condense to a small wardrobe. about four or five dresses about four or fiv...

More is Sometimes Necessary

Firstly, here is a link to a Notion template I have been working on that tracks all of my belongings ( 'Minimalist Life' ) often to the nitty gritty. What has been helpful to me is if I record this information in a different room than where the belongings are. For example, I will sit in the living room as I think about what clothes I have or what supplies I use while I am in the bathroom. It really makes me think about what is important. If I forgot I had that one hoodie when I was recording this information, is it really necessary? That is the question you need to ask yourself. I cannot give an answer to you about what is personal to your life.  What I am slowly working on learning is that more is sometimes necessary. For me, this especially applies to my clothes. Not that I have not had enough clothes, or that the clothes I have do not take up enough space. I know that I have more clothes than I can even count on both of my hands. But, it does not mean that it hurts to have...

Capsule Wardrobe

So, I found this new thing during my most recent research. And everyone that I have talked to about this already knew it. So, why was this not common knowledge for me until recently? I am not sure. But, what will I do with this information now that I have it- I will make a blog post, of course!  My “Capsule Wardrobe” Designed to mix & match Designed to have similar colors Designed to work for many seasons Keep what you know you will use Keep about enough for a weeks worth It’s okay to re-wear before washing as long as it’s not stained Own a total of 30 items (have 68 right now) Project 333 (33 items [except underwear], 3 months) ____________________________________ Shirts: Some long & some tank-tops One white & one black at least Some chill & some fancy Try to avoid undershirts Examples: Calvary Red Paradigm Yellow Off-Tech Blue HERd Purple Numonohi Gray White-collared business shirt (x2) Pants: Jeans, Shorts, & Leggings Neutral colors Long- Lasting ...

Minimalism in Moving

I know it has been a long time since I have written in this blog. However, I have not given up on this minimalist journey. In fact, I would say that I have been learning and growing in so much more areas all related to minimalism. I currently have another minimalism roommate. I have been able to talk through some of my really weird quirks related to minimalism that my roommate understands. We are able to verbally process our items to help us to not collect a whole bunch of items.  The biggest motivation of my minimalism journey, which has been mentioned before in these posts, is that I am going to be a traveler in my future. I do not want to have many items to carry around with me across the world. And it does not make sense to leave many possessions wherever I leave that I do not have access to. So, instead, every time I move it gives me an extra opportunity to look through my possessions and decide what is worth holding onto and what is not worth keeping.  My most recent pur...

My Most Recent Notes

Hello again! I really do not post much here, because I have a maximalist mind. One, I am an overthinker and have anxiety, so there is actually lots going on up there. But I also am taking about 20 credits this semester as well as working almost full-time hours split up between three jobs, as well as volunteering and leading different events outside of work and school. So, as you can see, I have a ton on my plate. In fact, I believe that your time should be minimalized as well. True minimalists are not overcommitted running around like a chicken with its head cut off. This is a specific area that which I have a ton of work I need to put into. I am not here to make excuses or blab on and on about my personal problems. I wanted to show what has been going through my mind recently on the note of minimalism.  I am not sure if I have mentioned this here before or not, but I use a website and app called Notion (or notion.so) to help me plan out my whole life- literally my classes, my sche...

My Exceptions to Minimalism

While this may not be the best habit to have, I have already discovered that I will have exceptions to what most minimalists live with. This is okay because I understand that minimalism in and of itself will not solve all of my problems. Yet, I am setting up boundaries so I can still restrict my exceptions and accept most of the minimalist systems. So, I allow myself 10 exceptions (including the sub-exceptions), which I will list here:  1. My care comes first. If I choose to splurge on about three (3) products at one time to help my physical care, this is okay. For example, right now these are my three:      a) Toothpaste: I want to spend a little more on better quality toothpaste to take care of my teeth. This one will probably not last, as I have learned from my research that whitening toothpaste is not that accurate or effective. While I did not mind splurging so I could feel better about my teeth, I am understanding that it is more than simply the brand or type o...
